Located 20 miles south of Boston, you will find Brockton, Massachusetts. From the mid-1750s through the 1920s, Brockton was a center for shoe manufacturing. This is not where the history of Brockton ends; it was also the birthplace of the electric powered street railway in 1884 and turned on by Thomas Edison himself.
