About Biloxi Housing Authority

The Biloxi Housing Authority was created on May 26, 1939. For over 70 years, the Biloxi Housing Authority has been the public housing agency for the citizens of Biloxi, providing safe, decent, sanitary and affordable housing. Originally created to assist veterans returning from World War II, the first development was constructed during the President Franklin D. Roosevelt administration at the East End Homes site on Maple Street, the current location of Cadet Point Senior Village completed in 2007 which is part of the HOPE VI development and was the first multi-family development to be completed in the City of Biloxi post Hurricane Katrina.

The Biloxi Housing Authority started a Section 8 Program in 1995 consisting of 25 mandatory Family Self Sufficiency Vouchers and has grown to a total of 594 Housing Choice Vouchers. The Public Housing and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher programs collectively assist over 1400 families with housing assistance in the City of Biloxi, Mississippi as of 2010.

The Biloxi Housing Authority's mission is to serve the needs of low-income, very low-income and extremely low-income families in the PHA’s jurisdiction and to:

Increase the availability of decent, safe and affordable housing in its communities
Ensure equal opportunity in housing
Promote self-sufficiency and asset development for families and individuals
Improve community quality of life and economic viability
