About Dartmouth Housing Authority

Incorporated into existence in 1963, our first site was built in South Dartmouth, Sol-E-Mar, and occupied in 1967. Forty-four units of state elderly housing marked the beginning of what has expanded to include a second site being built in North Dartmouth in 1980. Munroe Terrace has eighty single bedroom apartments, eight of which are handicapped accessible.

Through the years, the Dartmouth Housing Authority acquired a Section 8 program which enables us to help 197 families and individuals find safe and affordable housing by means of Housing Choice and Preservation Vouchers.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Dartmouth Housing Authority to provide safe, sanitary and affordable housing to both the elderly and non-elderly disabled. We have priorities and preference ratings; they being elderly veteran residents, non-elderly veteran residents, elderly non-veteran residents, non-elderly non-veteran disabled residents, elderly non-residents, and lastly, non-elderly non-residents. Rent is based on income and is charged at 3% of net income.
