Ten years later (1971) 54 more units were constructed on Oak, Poplar and Linden Street. The final stage of construction took place in 1981 with an additional 60 apartments being built on Clifton Road, High Street, Berry Avenue and Cleveland Street. The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds the operating expenses of the properties. However, it is the Housing Authority of Versailles that manages this community. A staff of six administers the programs and maintains the community that houses 156 families.
The Housing Authority of Versailles is dedicated to providing this community with quality, affordable housing that is decent, well maintained and free from drugs and violent crime. We endeavor to provide livable communities that are made up of a diverse range of economic incomes so that the children have role models who are visibly striving to make gains for their families.
