About Maywood Housing Authority (MHA)

The Maywood Housing Authority (MHA) was created in October 1946, by a Resolution under the Village of Maywood. In January 1976, the Board called the very first meeting for the organization of business and adopted the Original By-Laws.

Leasing of the initial Section-8 Certificates came in the year of 1977. Since that time the Voucher Program was adopted, and now the two programs has emerged into the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

MHA is currently allocated for a total of 449 vouchers under the Housing Choice Voucher Program; MHA is currently leased utilizing 368 vouchers in the Maywood area. Our most recent waiting list holds an approximate two year waiting period for families to receive assistance.

Although, we currently are not accepting applications for the program. Families are always encouraged to stay in touch to find out about upcoming information that we might have regarding housing opportunities.

Mission Statement

The Housing Authority of the Village of Maywood is a public agency chartered by the State of Illinois to administer the development, rehabilitation or financing of affordable housing programs. The primary mission of the Housing Authority is to provide affordable decent, safe and sanitary housing opportunities to low and moderate income families including elderly and handicapped persons, while supporting programs to foster economic self-sufficiency. The Housing Authority has been serving Maywood for over 30 years.
