About San Mateo County Housing Authority

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM) was created in March 1941 State Health and Safety Code to provide housing assistance to low and very low income families. The County Board of Supervisors, in a spearate legal capacity, serves as the Housing Authority's Board of Commissioners. Funding for the Housing Authority is entirely provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and rental income from tenants in its two housing developments.

Mission Statement

The Department of Housing serves as a catalyst for increasing access to affordable rental housing, increasing the supply of workforce housing, and supporting related community development so that housing exists for people of all income levels in San Mateo County.
